Paulino Alcántara, Ilonggo - Pride of Iloilo

Paulino Alcántara Riestrá (October 7, 1896, Iloilo City, Philippines — February 13, 1964, Barcelona, Spain) was a Filipino football player and manager who spent most of his playing career at FC Barcelona and was the first Filipino and Asian player to play for a European club. He also played for Catalonia, the Philippines and Spain. Alcántara made his debut for FC Barcelona at the age of 15 and remains the youngest player to play or score for the club. He also scored 357 goals in 357 matches, making him the club's highest goalscorer. After retiring as a player in 1927 at the age of 31, he became a doctor. On July 5, 1927 FC Barcelona played against Spain in a testimonial match in his honour and he later served as a club director between 1931 and 1934. In 1951 Alcántara became a selector and coached Spain for three games.

Early years

Alcántara was born in the Philippines and moved to Spain to play for FC Galeno before he was discovered by Joan Gamper and signed up for FC Barcelona. He made his debut at the age of 15 years, 4 months and 18 days old on February 25, 1912 against Catalá SC in the Championat de Catalunya and FC Barcelona won 9-0 and Alcántara scored the first three goals of the game. He was nicknamed "el rompe redes" (the net breaker) due to his scoring ability. Among his team mates during his time at the club were Francisco Bru Sanz, Jack Greenwell and Romà Forns. He went on to help the club win a Copa del Rey and Championat de Catalunya in 1913 and a Championat de Catalunya in 1916.

Bohemian Sporting Club

In 1916 Alcántara return to the Philippines and played for the Bohemian Sporting Club. He was selected by the Philippine national football team in 1917 and represented his country at the Far Eastern Championship Games in Tokyo, helping them defeat Japan 15-2, which became the Philippines' highest win in international football. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona had failed to win a championship title in his absence.

FC Barcelona

After returning to FC Barcelona, his former team mate and coach, Jack Greenwell experimented with Alcántara as a defender, but failed to achieve success on that position, which saw him return to the forward line and in 1919, he helped the club win another Championat de Catalunya. The club also reached the Copa del Rey final but lost 5-2 to Arenas Club de Getxo. In 1920 the club won another Copa del Rey and the Championat de Catalunya with Alcántara scoring in the 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in the Copa final. The FC Barcelona team included Emilio Sagi Liñan, who formed a partnership with Alcántara as well as Ricardo Zamora, Josep Samitier and Félix Sesúmaga. This marked the beginning of the club’s first golden era and saw them dominate both the Championat de Catalunya and Copa del Rey tournament. Alcántara scored twice in the 1922 Copa final where FC Barcelona defeated Real Unión 5-1 and scored the winning goal in the 3-2 win over Atlético Madrid in the 1926 final.

International career

In 1915 Alcántara made his debut with Catalonia and in 1924 he played at least 6 games and scored at least 4 goals for the team, as well as representing the Philippines and Spain in international level. In 1920 Alcántara, along with Zamora, Samitier and Sesúmaga, was selected to represent Spain at the Olympic Games. However, Alcántara chose to stay at home to take his final medical exams. He eventually made his debut for Spain on October 7, 1921 at the age of 25 against Belgium and scored both goals in a 2-0 win. He made 5 appearances and scored 6 goals for Spain between 1921 and 1923.

Heroes of Newerth Beta Info and Keys

S2Games, indie developer for Savage 1 and 2 (both games that S2Games admits fell short of their expectations), has released some sneak peaks for their next title, Heroes of Newerth, on their facebook page (currently the main source of official information about their next title).
The game is currently in closed beta with regular beta invites being handed out to the current testers, so they can invite their friends to help 'test'.

You can see concept art and some videos on their facebook page. Below is another video released for the new mobagamers.com website which compares LoL, DoTA, Demigod and HoN. You can get more information about HoN there.

The reason for the lack of information about HoN is because S2Games doesn't want to repeat any previous mistakes that they made with Savage 2 which was delayed for over 2 years. If you want to keep up to date with HoN then keep an eye on the following links...

December by hawthorne heights

For most humans, letting go is not something that comes easy. And, in light of that, how can this subject even be defined?

Well, I would consider letting go as the actual moment when one decides that whatever emotional baggage they're hanging on to is no longer worth holding. At the moment that that baggage is released, letting go occurs.

Of course, it's much easier to give the analogy via a descriptive picture than it is for most to actually do what is described.

Myself included.

But I now know, without a doubt, that this letting go is a fact. And it is doable. And it is hard to do. And it will most likely occur for the masses of people desiring it only over a long period of time and inner study of the workings of one's mind and how it operates.

Letting go is something that occurs inside one and it is only visible to that person. Usually it is not tellable outside the person who just let go. It comes as a sense of resolution with the internal mental and emotional struggle that heretofore was battling it out inside the 'mind'.

Letting go is evidenced by a sort of inner peace that the way a situation was responded to before is no longer appropriate, or necessary. There is a way out of the struggle with that situation for that person now...outside of what was used to-date.

The over half-century old saying states:

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference."

This is more than just a few words in a trite poem penned by a man in the early 20th century.

These words are something that helps one understand that the actual process of letting go is something that wholly occurs inside one, but forever changes their world outside of them as well.

Why is it so hard to let go and why do so many people struggle with this fact of life?

I believe its because of past behavior and heavily conditioned actions that have, in a sense, solidified the behaviors in the person with the struggle to let go.

Hanging onto one's reaction to a situation is a habit. Pure and simple.

For most it's a deeply entrenched habit that is not going to give up without a struggle. The mind will work ever so hard to have the thinker, the person, believe that the past way of reacting to a situation is the only way to react to that situation.

The mind wants the mind holder to believe that there is no other way to respond to the events that Life throws at us.

And after several decades of conditioning on our own part through existence on this physical plane, and additionally the cultural conditioning over the millenia that was programmed into our genes over that extended period of time, one can easily see how enormous this type of watershed change is going to be. That is, to actually let go.

But, let go of what?

Let go of the past.

Past behavior.

Past thoughts.

Past actions.

Past beliefs.

It's not easy to do. And even though one may say they want it, even though one may say that they believe in it, that is not enough to make it happen.

But, contrary to this, it still does come down to an actual moment of 'letting go'.

Yes, it doesn't make sense. Yes, it still begs the question "So, exactly how do I let go?"

Well, when I found myself posing that type of question once several years ago, I was given the answer that it's kind of like choosing between two different ice cream flavors in the ice cream aisle in the supermarket. How do you chose between vanilla or chocolate? Easy...

You just choose. You see a choice, and then you choose.

Is letting go that easy as well? Well, when done after much resolve and inner conviction, yes, it is.

It's a whole body understanding that the past baggage held inside the mind to-date no longer is appropriate for this same situation from hereon in.

It's a complete and absolute knowing that behaving the way one has to-date no longer is needed. Or necessary.

It's dropping what was. And accepting what is.

It's giving up the struggle with what is.

And to quote J. Khrisnamurti when he was near the latter part of his life: "I don't mind what happens."

I don't mind what happens. When that is felt throughout the body, and only then, is one letting go. There is no mental decision.

Letting go is outside the mind. Letting go is seeing that what is, is. And any amount of denial, fighting, resisting, arguing, wishing, or bargaining isn't going to change what is.

Letting go. It really is an art.

The salient question right here and right now for you, my dear reader, is: Are you willing to wipe off the canvas of your Life, and start now clean, clear, and new?

You can let go of whatever Life situation is bothering you, you know. Trust me on this.

My Screenshot of DESKSPACE 1.5.5.4

Here's my screenshot of my DeskSpace 1.5.5.4 installed just this July 2009. Well the software is kinda light weight for my PC and i kinda like it... But what will be its future use for me? Let's see..
DeskSpace 1.5.5.4 download can be found here. A link from my friend.

INFO ABOUT DESKSPACE (Source: Wikipedia.org)

DeskSpace, formerly known as Yod'm 3D (short for Yet anOther Desktop Manager 3D) is a virtual desktop manager available for Windows 2000, XP and Vista. It is not the first program to offer a cube-style virtual desktop management feature on Windows operating systems, but it is believed to be one of the better executions of the idea in the Win32 environment.

It is mainly used by XP users to generate desktop management features which were introduced in Vista.

Features

DeskSpace maps six virtual desktops to a cube and allows the user to switch between them, similar to the cube plugin for the Compiz and Beryl window managers for the X Window System in Linux.[2] It is the first desktop manager that makes this feature available on Microsoft Windows. DeskSpace makes use of and requires DirectX 9[3] in contrast to most other virtual desktop managers that use OpenGL.

It does not require installation to run, and is most commonly distributed as a ZIP archive.

Known limitations

Under version 1.4 it's not possible to change the wallpaper for one of the additional desktops permanently by right-clicking an image file and selecting "set as Desktop Background". One has to change the wallpaper via the Properties dialog.

Desktop icons cannot be arranged for individual sides of the cube. They are the same for all sides.

Yod'm 3D

After the acquisition by Otaku Software, Yod'm 3D (originally from Chris'Soft) changed name to DeskSpace."(July 9, 2007) DeskSpace, unlike its predecessor, is not freeware; however users were encouraged to download and use the last free version v1.4 if they wish to still use it.(July 25, 2007)

My Free Ubuntu CD

Well here it is my Free UBUNTU CD's from UBUNTU.... Thank YOU UBUNTU for the CD's. I have already finished installing UBUNTU and i have found it very useful and an alternative OS for my older OS. I will be sticking on this OS for quite sometime hehe... I know I will be spending some more time using my UBUNTU OS. For those who also want to get a copy of UBUNTU you can grab a copy of UBUNTU @ www.ubuntu.com

Here's a little info about UBUNTU:

Ubuntu (pronounced /uːˈbuːntuː/oo-BOON-too), is a computer operating system based on Debian GNU/Linux. It is distributed as free software. Ubuntu's goals include providing an up-to-date, stable operating system for the average user, with a strong focus on usability and ease-of-installation. Ubuntu has been selected by readers of desktoplinux.com as the most popular Linux distribution for the desktop, claiming approximately 30% of their desktop installations in both 2006 and 2007.

Ubuntu is composed of multiple software packages distributed under either a free software or an open source license. The main license used is the GNU General Public License (GNU GPL) which explicitly declares that users are free to run, copy, distribute, study, change, develop and improve the software. Ubuntu is sponsored by the UK based company Canonical Ltd., owned by South African entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth. Instead of selling Ubuntu for profit, Canonical creates revenue by selling technical support and from creating several services tied to Ubuntu including Ubuntu One, Landscape and Launchpad. Canonical is yet to turn profitable, however. By keeping Ubuntu distribution itself free software and open source, Canonical is able to take advantage of the talents of outside developers in Ubuntu's constituent components without developing the entire operating system itself (which is based primarily on current Linux kernels).

Canonical endorses and provides support for four additional Ubuntu-like operating systems: Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu (a subproject and add-on for Ubuntu, designed for school environments and home users), and Ubuntu JeOS (pronounced "Juice", a stripped-down version of Ubuntu optimized for virtual appliances).

Canonical releases new versions of Ubuntu every six months and supports Ubuntu for eighteen months by providing security fixes, patches to critical bugs and minor updates to programs. LTS (Long Term Support) versions, which are released every two years, are supported for three years on the desktop and five years for servers. The current version of Ubuntu, 9.04, was released on April 23, 2009, and the upcoming version, Karmic Koala, is planned to be released on October 29, 2009.
